With effect from October 1, 2023, Felbermayr Holding GmbH, parent company of Haeger & Schmidt Logistics, will hold 50 percent of the Dutch inland shipping company Rijnmond Logistics Beheer BV, based in Papendrecht, subject to formal approvals. Thanks to its expertise in inland shipping as a full-service logistics provider, Rijnmond ideally complements our rich range of services. This step enables us to increase our flexibility and to meet the needs of our customers in the best possible way.

Since the acquisition of Haeger & Schmidt by Felbermayr Holding in 2013, we have established ourselves as a leading provider of logistics solutions in the European inland waterway network. We report sales of 250 million euros and employ 250 people at twelve locations across Europe.

“The strategic investment in Rijnmond Logistics and the close cooperation with Haeger & Schmidt Logistics expand our service portfolio considerably and strengthen our position in the industry enormously,” comments Horst Felbermayr, CEO of the holding company of the same name, on HSL’s growth.

For Heiko Brückner as CEO of Haeger & Schmidt Logistics, the investment is a vote of confidence in ten years of successful partnership with Felbermayr: “We are delighted with the decision to invest in Rijnmond Logistics and thus drive forward the expansion of the Haeger & Schmidt Group. The team led by Cees van Putten represents a significant addition for us.” For him, people in particular are the focus: “Thanks to their know-how and close cooperation, we can offer our customers an even broader and more efficient range of services in inland shipping logistics.”

Rijnmond Logistics will benefit from the synergies created by the partnership with Felbermayr and the close cooperation with Haeger & Schmidt Logistics. With two of its own coupling units, a motor vessel, and around 20 particulators and charter vessels, Rijnmond Logistics has a chartering capacity of 79,000 tons. Cees van Putten, Managing Director of Rijnmond Logistics, expects a significant realignment and new opportunities for his company. In the future, he will benefit, among other things, from our efficient infrastructure, including the HSL logistics center in Duisburg and the Felbermayr port terminals in Krefeld on the Rhine, Linz on the Danube, and Vienna/Albern.
